CATCH CERTIFICATION IMPLEMENTATION IN INDONESIA Council Regulation No. 1005/2008 (IUU Regulation) is the regulation of the European Commission to member states of the European Union in order to overcome the activities of "IUU fishing". Regulation does not contain the measures rules or new measures regarding the management and conservation of fishery resources, but the measures to enforce the rules/regulations on overcoming "IUU Fishing" which is set by each country (including third-party countries such as Indonesia) through the implementation of Catch Certification. The 2nd Sub Regional Meeting of South China Sea and Sulu-Sulawesi Seas meeting The Sub-Regional Meeting on the Southern and Eastern Area of the South China Sea and the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas was organized by the Directorate General of Surveillance and Control of Marine and Fisheries Resources, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Indonesia, from 2-3 December 2009 at Ambon, Indonesia.
The Meeting was attended by delegates from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The meeting was also attended by representative from WorldFish Centre.

The 2nd Coordination Committee Meeting The 2nd Coordination Committee Meeting RPOA was conducted in Lombok-Indonesia, 4-5 November 2009. This meeting was attended by representatives of nine member countries to the Regional Plan of Action to Promote Responsible Fishing Practices including Combating IUU Fishing in the Region (RPOA) (Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam). The Philippines and Papua New Guinea were not able to attend the meeting.

Regional Plan of Action on Capacity Building and MCS Curriculum Development Workshop On 12-14 August 2009, RPOA secretariat has organized workshops on Capacity Building and MCS Curriculum Development. The workshop was attended by representatives from all member countries i.e.: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Kingdom of Cambodia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, and also representative from RPOA Advisory bodies. This workshop was facilitated by Professor Martin Tsamenyi from the Australian National Center for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS), University of Wollongong, Australia.

Regional Plan of Action (RPOA) on Port Monitoring Techniques Workshop Port monitoring techniques workshop was held in Penang, Malaysia on 15-17 June 2009. Workshop was opened by Mr. Suhaili and facilitate by Prof. Tsamenyi from Wolonggong University, Australia. This workshop was attended by representatives from all RPOA countries member, and also attended representatives from FAO-APFIC.
The workshop noted that enforcement procedures are necessary to combat IUU fish trade. RPOA member countries are encouraged to actively participate in the ongoing consultations in the FAO to negotiate a binding agreement on port state measure to finalize the FAO Port State Model Scheme and apply its framework and structure to implement in their ports.
